Flickr, Facebook and a dog called Mozart | Sydney Pet Photographer

I personally don't believe that social media "likes" and "comments" validate work   - art is subjective; you either like it or you don't. I don't grade work in this way - but I do like feedback and to be appreciated! This is because I work hard at what I love to do. { update, 10.Jan.2013, reason why }

This image titled "LOL Mozart" (first published here in the last post; then Flickr; then Google+; then Twitter; and finally facebook), was featured on Flickr's Explore, 4 Jan 2013. 

I'm grateful that Flickr's curator(s) and community saw and recognised something interesting about this image enough to feature it.

As a result, to date, this pic has been viewed in flickr 870 times, favourited by 83, and commented on by 18 in over 1 day. 

Compare that to facebook statistics: shown to 161, liked by 13 and commented by 6. (G+'d by 2).

It's interesting to see which social media sites are valuable for visually oriented  services like me! I know where I'll be spending my time next.

Its also interesting to note that facebook continuously bills itself as some kind of small business marketing paradise. Is it though?

Needless to say, Mozart does have a winning smile. Who couldn't resist that?

Mozart the maltese/poodle/other | Sydney Dog Photographer

It was last April that I first met Mozart - when I documented his adoption. He’s been one lucky maltese/poodle/other (maybe a bit of Shih Tzu?) in finding a forever home - that second chance in life. And he was proud to share it with me when I visited him for Christmas lunch where he lives with his adopted parents, adopted cat siblings, and a backyard of currawongs. And he loves his toys - 2 big buckets of them.

A dog's journey to a new home | dog photographer

Meet Mozart, a Poodle cross Maltese cross maybe other bits. He’s missing one paw, not that you would notice if no one had pointed it out. And he just found a new home.

Whether Mozart was born with a missing paw, no one knows. He was checked into Blacktown pound last December and was rescued by Monika’s since.

I had the privilege to observe his adoption last Tuesday.

I set out with R&J from their residence in Burwood in the late morning and drove to Monika’s in Ingleside to meet a few dogs in need of a new home.

The first dog we met was Mozart. For R&J, it’s not so much in the case of whether they like Mozart, but it’s more of whether Mozart likes them - if they were lucky enough to have a dog pick them.

It was love at first sight when both parties met. Even when Mozart was taken for a walk in the surroundings to see how he would adapt to his potential new owners, he couldn’t keep his eyes off R&J.

2 hours later, Mozart was back home with R&J. It was clear that they were meant for each other. There were many hugs and cuddles and Mozart was clearly grateful to be in his new home. And he even met their resident cat, Big Ears, who warmed up to Mozart instantly.

I love a story with a happy ending. And I applaud R&J for adopting Mozart - I can see who Mozart considers his heroes.
