Spring in Sydney is usually a busy time with festivals, fairs, fetes, etc.
Last weekend, we checked out the Newtown Festival &mdash an annual event held by the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre for more than 30 years.
I love heading out to community events like these and documenting the experience from a spectator's point of view; something fun to do in my 'spare' time. The style is very different from hire sessions.
It sure was a hot Spring morning when we got there, not to mention the crowd — people and dogs about.
There are definitely lots of things to see, to buy and to do — performances to watch, pony rides.
Soap for dog — anyone?
It's important to locate the public toilets.
I had to try a potato on a stick, chilli flavour and man, it was super hot even for my standard!
Watching these kids (and adults) having fun brought back my childhood memories.

Go Bandit, Go!
I knew Bandit's good looks would get him places!
His Cheesy portrait was featured on Redbubble's group "In Dogs We Trust".
Bandit was rescued by AWDRI and is now available for adoption.
You can help find Bandit a new home before Christmas — grab a couple of greeting cards, post cards — get 15% discount using this promotion code "twoguineapigs_is_on_sale_9431" (offer ends this Sunday, 14 November).

Proceeds from sales of artwork of working dogs I photographed for rehoming through the AWDRI featured on my redbubble page will go to the AWDRI in helping these dogs find a new home.

The many faces
One of my two black cats has many faces — a pet photographer's delight. Well, his facial expressions are more obvious than the other's.
This is PF. He's one cat I know who drools {A LOT}.
And yawns excessively.
The last frame reminded me of how you normally see Amine kittens being drawn — rounded head, rounded mouth wide open, ears to the back.
Technical specs:
1/100 | f/2.8 | ISO 250 | 8.0 fps to capture these in between moments

Take me home
We met and greeted a couple of new faces and visited a few old friends this morning. It's amazing to see the change in some of these dogs; Bandit especially has matured quite a lot in the last 5 to 6 months. Just shows that photography captures the time and the moment — dogs like people do change over time.
These AWDRI guys are currently boarding at the Solar Lodge Boarding Kennels & Cattery before being transported to their foster carer or their new home.
It was cloudy and the sky was threatening to rain, not to mention it was warm and humid. But everyone braved the Summer-like heat for their portraits.
Sure was a day of red (+ 1 white with black polka dots) speckled dogs!
Bandit {AWDRI profile}
boy • 1 year • cattle dog x • speckled
Bandit and I first met in May this year. I really hope he finds a good home soon — he's really sweet, this one.
He's focused, quick to learn and sharp — not to mention well-mannered.
If not for our cats, I would take Bandit home — he's a photographer's delight!
Patch {AWDRI profile PCC540}
boy • 1 year • cattle dog x • red
We first met Patch in June this year. He is one dog that loves his treats - still!
Freckles {AWDRI profiles}
boy • 2 years • cattle dog • speckled red
friendly | active | affectionate | intelligent
This guy is smart, he figured out why he was given treats pretty quickly.
Rebel {AWDRI profile}
boy • ? years • stumpy tail cattle dog • red
Rocco {AWDRI profile}
boy • ? years • stumpy tail cattle dog • red
This guy wouldn't give a hug a miss!
And he's got the shortest stumpy tail ever!

We met Rebel in June this year. He's one sweet dog who just can't stop giggling when tickled!
He may be little but he thinks he's a big dog; filled with spirit. We missed his cuddles (and his stumpy tail!)
