It was last April that I first met Mozart - when I documented his adoption. He’s been one lucky maltese/poodle/other (maybe a bit of Shih Tzu?) in finding a forever home - that second chance in life. And he was proud to share it with me when I visited him for Christmas lunch where he lives with his adopted parents, adopted cat siblings, and a backyard of currawongs. And he loves his toys - 2 big buckets of them.
{ update 6.Jan.2013 } Mozart's LOL was featured in Flickr's Explore, 4.Jan.2013. This dog has a winning smile!

schnitzel the dachshund | sydney award winning pet photographer
Meet Schnitzel, a 7 month old Dachshund who lives in the neighbourhood. Schnitzel’s Mum, L, commissioned a photoshoot so Schnitzel will be remembered as the gorgeous puppy that he is - before he turns into the ripe old age of 1 year old. I did some family shots for Christmas and some art pieces for the home.
Here’s a sneak from the shoot.

Artex the Border Collie | Sydney Dog Photography
Introducing Artex, a 13 month old Border Collie, and my new friend.
Artex, travelled down from Lilyfield with his ‘parents’ for a test shot right in the heart of Potts Point 2 weekends ago. These are my favourites from our test shot. Thank you for coming around and meeting me.
Stay tuned for more. I can't wait to show off more of Artex.

Napoleon | Sydney Dog Photography
I met Napoleon last year in the character filled neighbourhoods of Enmore - a bohemian inner city Sydney suburb. He fit right it! He had a beautiful nature and his stunning white coat was a pleasure to capture.

DOGUE COVERDOG
Last weekend it was the drama, the glamour, the fun and the pooches at Dogue’s annual COVERDOG event. twoguineapigs played paparazzi and had a total ball photgraphing the models.
COVERDOG was a fundraising event aimed at helping the Animal Welfare League and the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home. twoguineapigs had a pop-up with two sets, one operated by your humble blogger and the other by my partner-in-crime-for-the-day - the good natured and talented photographer Calvin Galang.
Together we photographed a selection of gorgeous dogs, all in competition to be the best at a selection of doggie activities - including being fashion models - well it wasn’t that serious (at least I don’t think it was! But I think the dogs did take it seriously!)
But “shooting” was just the end part of a lot of organising. We had to arrange props, figure out lighting and the space, and prepare for a crowd of dogs (and people).
Poor Calvin had to work his way through quite a few planning sessions with yours truly - and I am still worried I forced him to stay up way past his bed time on several occasions :P. The work life balance at twoguineapigs possibly needs to be reviewed next year. As well, my donkey assistant/partner probably needs a holiday as he has lately been locking himself in the bathroom and refusing to come out.
On the day itself we had to haul a lot of gear about the place - professional photography involves a lot of equipment and I think we all came close to lying on our backs half dead by the end (the donkey partner looked especially pale).
One bonus though - it only rained after the competition (not always the way it goes) :).
Thanks to Dogue and EQ, to the owners and of course the wonderful Dogue dogs that turned up for a romp in the sun - and congratulations to the winners: Gwen the Mini-Pomeranian (centre); Henry the Cavalier X Terrier (left) and Timmy the Cavalier X Papillion ! :)

Adoption is a beautiful thing
AWDRI is not just all about calendars and photos of beautiful but temporarily homeless dogs (I’ve done a few pictures myself in the last few years to help with adoption and raise funds) - occasionally some good people actually adopt a pooch (or two). This was the happy fate of Denny who I photographed previously and who is now living the good life in Victoria with his new house-buddies. Well done guys!
I think these new owners should be complimented for making a choice to help save a life. For one thing I am (as is my usual practice) sending them a print of Denny from my original shoot, when he/we were looking for an owner to love him. Hope you like it!
Although I’m not against the idea of getting a pet from a socially responsible and reputable breeder, I also think we have plenty of abandoned dogs, cats, guinea pigs and what not on our streets who also have their paws ‘n’ claws up hoping for a second chance, for a new home.
So good luck Denny and co! Pats and Hugs from this photographer. I hope you have many long and happy walks in the Victorian years to come.

Rosie the French Bulldog puppy | puppy dog photography
Meet Rosie, a 5 month old French Bulldog.
Though people sometimes refer the Frenchies as ‘clowns’ or ‘frog dogs’ I think Rosie has more the face of an intellectual - maybe a middle aged law lecturer. Educationally, Rosie is attending puppy school at Amy’s and is a smart, fast learner.
She isn’t afraid of meeting dogs 10 times her size (a Doberman or Labrador). Maybe her personality is 10 times the size of theirs. She’s a social mover who is popular with both humans and dogs who are always stopping to greet her in the park. Those batty ears and shinning reverse brindle coat the colour of black and dark brown seem to work in her favour.
Rosie's human Mum and Dad told me that she loves her vegetables and eats healthily - wise puppy for her age.
Rosie has such distinctive features I couldn’t resist showing her in different photgraphic styles - vivid colour, vintage and black-and-white - she looks great all ways!

Lucy, a gorgeous Shar Pei | dog photography
Lucy (Buddy’s ‘sister’) made a special appearance after school last weekend for a quick session. She’s a gorgeous and gentle 3 year old Shar Pei. Though she can be a little shy (I equate that to her being independent, calm and composed), Lucy has an expressive and winning personality. I love her wrinkles and her coat colour, not to mention those soulful eyes.
