It’s been “back to school” for us here at twoguineapigs – puppy school that is.
I won’t write about my own academic experiences - believe me you don’t want to know(!) - but it has been great recording the dayz of the puppies at Amy’s Puppy Pre-school.
BTW sorry this post is so late – could be an issue with my homework!
I met Amy, a talented puppy trainer, on the Internet. Who says you don’t meet cool people online any more? Once we met it was like – yep we can work together and maybe wonderful things will happen.
I love documenting Amy’s puppy classes - despite often having to sit in the full glaring sun. The puppy curriculum - and antics - are worth it.
In the long journey from puppydom to serious canine adulthood, a bit of education is the responsible thing to get: sign your pooch up for training and have your dog socialised.
Nothing more troublesome than a dog who can’t hold polite conversation!
Don’t wait until your pup is 3 months old - talk to a puppy trainer (ie Amy) even before your pup arrives so you’re well and truly aware of your responsibilities and your puppy’s needs.
Unsocial pups run the risk of being re-homed and even abandoned. See what happens when you don’t get a proper education? OMG my mum was right all along!
I’ll leave my first video attempt of Mace the Boston Terrier puppy trying very hard to pay attention in class and a few images of Amy. Ah - reminds me of days gone by....
More puppies in class here.

twoguineapigs out at Dogue | Winter Sale Event | Dog photography
twoguineapigs met a bunch of out-and-about pooches this weekend at the Dogue Winter Sale. The sale was a special day not only because of the potential for a bit of canine photo posing and great bargains - Amy who runs Puppy Pre-school was also there to offer advice on any poochy behavioural quirks that might be a bit confusing to humans.
We all had an enjoyable day. The weather was crisp and sunny - a perfect Sydney winter day. And Dogue is one cool shop - the staff are friendly and owners who came had a relaxing time. Its lucky the dogs didn't have their own credit cards - there might have been some serious maxing out if they had!
Thanks to all who came - it was great to meet you!

Gorgeous 9 month old Kelpie cross Whippet Bugsy and Spirit | adoption | dog photography
We met Bugsy and Spirit (Kelpie cross Whippet) on Sunday. Both AWDRI Star Pups are currently boarding at the Solar Lodge Kennels and are looking for a long-term relationship.
At 9 months, these 2 fine young gentlemen are gorgeous and are such a joy to be with. I was impressed by their good behaviour and their enthusiasm to learn and please.
Both boys learned quickly what I was there to do and they really made me work for it. It was like photographing toddlers who are not really interested in negotiation. However I got a sense that they were enjoying the attention and were putting on their best show for the camera.
The boys were up for cuddles, which was fine by us as they both had such beautiful soft fine coats. I absolutely adore Bugsy's markings - that blueish grey with a tint of yellow when he’s in the sun - so stylish!
There are so many favourites and special Star dogs at AWDRI I have had the honour to meet and photograph - but these 2 definitely left a deep impression on me. I hope that their new forever home will come very soon for them as they certainly deserve it.
These 2 are great mates - Bugsy looks up to Spirit and they both are inseparable. I really hope they go to a new home together.
If you have space to share in your life with these 2 gorgeous Keplie x Whippets, please contact the AWDRI immediately. Don’t leave it too long.
